8th October, 2007
Dear singers and choristers,

On behalf of Hong Kong Youth Wind Philharmonia (HKYWP), I am writing to invite you to sing Carmina Burana in HKYWP Annual Concert 2008, to be held on Sunday, 13th January 2008 at Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall.

Hollywood has made the world to link up the work, especially O Fortuna that opens and closes the piece, with the dark lord or evil power. In fact, Carmina Burana (or Songs of Beuren in English) was composed by Carl Orff, based on 24 of the secular poems written in the 13th Century lamenting the struggles of the human condition. Originally written for full orchestra and chorus, HKYWP has transcribed the orchestral part to wind band version, and is currently in need of around 100 singers, especially youth choir choristers, to join in presenting the whole work to the Hong Kong general public.

The mass choir will start rehearsing on 21 October 2007, every Sunday afternoon 4pm to 7pm at various locations (please refer to the schedule file); and the only cost you need to pay is HK$130 for the vocal score which we will order from Germany.

Those who are interested in joining us in this performance please email carminaburana@hkywp.org with your name, email address, age and contact number. For more information about Hong Kong Youth Wind Philharmonia, please visit www.hkywp.org .

Yours sincerely,
